Although the interior of your home is important, what about your home exterior? You could have the most beautiful house in the world inside, and yet it could look neglected from the outside. You want to show it off, after all, that’s the first thing people will see when they pull up outside. Improving its curb appeal will not only make your home look great, but it could also attract more buyers if you ever decide to sell it. Here’s how to do it:
Revamp the front door: Give your front door a lick of paint and you’ll be surprised at what a big difference this makes. Why not go for something that stands out, like a deep red? If you don’t fancy something so bright, then pastel colours can also look good. You could even try adding a shiny new door knocker or door number.
Put up some porch lights: This will instantly make your home feel more welcoming. Go for lanterns for a rustic feel that will add character, or go for a ceiling lamp if a more modern design is what you prefer.
Spruce up the windows: Give the frames a lick of paint, scrub them till you can see your reflection in them, and if they just look downright scruffy, get them replaced if you can.
Keep the lawn looking neat: Even in the winter months, the grass can grow. If the weather conditions permit it, keep it freshly trimmed, and ensure that you get rid of any fallen leaves.
Don’t underestimate the power of plants: Greenery can make any space look nicer. Try hanging baskets in the summer months, and a wreath of winter flowers on the front door in the colder months. You could even think about putting up a trellis with vines.
Inspect the roof: Not only will this improve the exterior, it will also protect the house so that it stays structurally sound. Check for any roof tiles that are missing or chipped and get them replaced. Get rid of any debris or grime.
As you can see, it doesn’t take much to give your home more curb appeal with a little bit of TLC. Have you got any tips to share with us?
