Maybe not something for everyone, but a recent trend that seems to be cropping up everywhere is the idea of having a coloured radiator. Radiators are a neccessity in our chilly British climate, but they don’t tend to come far up on our list when we’re thinking about our home interiors. We tend to forget that they’re there most of the time, but what about if we decided to use them for decoration instead of just as a useful appliance?
One of the best things about having a coloured radiator is that they stand out from the crowd. They can add a pop of colour to an otherwise plain room in a way which looks unique and quirky. Interior designers are urging people to go for colours which they might not normally consider. They’re suggesting that by going for colours outside of our normal tastes, we’re bringing a bit of adventure into our homes and are therefore giving it a whole new breath of life. At the same time, it’s important that the colour looks tasteful and doesn’t clash with any colour scheme you already have going on.
Interior designers are also suggesting that having a coloured radiator can really influence the mood of a room. Radiators tend to be in the centre, as this means that they can radiate heat to the entirety of the space. Therefore, you’re supposed to go with a colour that influences the room’s function. For example, if you’ve decided on a coloured radiator in your living room, then you want a colour that makes you feel relaxed and comfortable, and if you’ve decided on a coloured radiator in your gym room, you’ll want a colour that makes you feel energised.
What do you think? Is it a load of rubbish, or are interior designers onto something with this latest trend? We’d love to know your thoughts
