How it’s done:

The first step is to mix the soapy water with the white vinegar. The vinegar helps to stop streaking and combined with the water, it’ll make your windows look spotless. Alternatively, if you don’t have any vinegar, then washing up liquid can work just as well.

The second step is to clean the window from top to bottom with the mixture. You’re aiming to get rid of any debris that’s managed to get stuck on the window. If you don’t do this then your in danger of scratching the windows- definitely not what you want!

Now you need to use your cotton wool buds to give the corners and edges a deep clean. They’ll be able to get right into all the little nooks and crannies that your cloth won’t reach.

You then need to scrunch up the newspaper in order to wipe over the window. Like the vinegar, it’ll help to stop any streaking.

Other helpful tips:

Avoid using anything other than a soft cloth- other materials can be too rough for the window’s surface and could cause damage.

Did you know that the best thing to do is to clean your windows on a dull day rather than on one which is bright and sunny? This means less streaks as the lack of sun means the window won’t dry too quickly.

If mould has become an issue around your window, make sure to keep on top of removing it with a sponge. It’s important that you determine why it keeps appearing- is your home ventilated properly? Is there furniture too close to the window?

If you find that some marks on your window are too tough to get off, then it’s a good idea to invest in a window cleaning solution which might be more effective.
